Reading: This week we will work on the final presentation for your lit books. You will need to do some of the work at home, but time will be given at school as well. We have one last group activity to do together. We need to make a plot diagram. The plot diagram will also help you review the book prior to beginning your project. The checklist for the expectations on your report is simple.
  1. prepare a presentation that shows effort was spent making it nice
  2. include all story elements from your story
  3. give an oral presentation that lets us know you understood the elements of your lit book
We will spend a little more time on grammar and writing this week for your biography. I will have you make an outline for the important events in your person’s life. We will review verb tense within writing, and adding more vivid verbs and adjectives.

Math: Good News! We are on chapter 10 on Geometry. Monday we will have one more fraction activity day. For the remainder of the week we will learn Lessons 1; points, lines, line segments, Lesson 2; rays and angles, Lesson 3; parallel and perpendicular lines, and Lesson 4; circles. If you are doing well we will continue on. Our homework will be on pages 119-122 in your workbook.

Science: We have moved into a new science called Physics which is the study of energy. Later we will learn about electricity. This week we will learn that electricity is not the only type of energy. You will get to do experimentation kinetic, potential, and gravitational energy. I will also introduce you to my favorite science guy, Bill Nye!  Make sure to check my blog for interactive sites relating to the study of energy.

Social Studies: We will finish up the battles that end with America winning their independence. You will get to write a newspaper article as if you were at one of the battles. You will continue your research and final for your important person from the Revolutionary War. I do make an effort to ensure you do not have multiples projects in one week, so if we need to push the oral presentation with a “show and tell” item representing your person into next week we will. Let’s just play it by ear this week. Remember that your biography counts as two grades, one in S.S and one in Language. Be sure to do your best. :)
