Reading: In our
lit groups students will work on reading 10-20 pages every day. Some reading
will be done at home. We will focus on the author’s purpose, main ideas,
developing themes, developing conflicts, and writing this week. Students will
also begin a vocabulary booklet for unknown words within the story.
Math: We will
begin chapter 9 in your text on adding and subtracting fractions. We will try
to get through lesson 6 on multiples. The correlating homework will be in your
workbook on pages 107-112.
Social Studies:
We will begin chapter 9 The Revolutionary War. Now that the colonists are at
war, we will identify contributions of significant people by writing and
presenting a biography. We will learn
about a popular pamphlet called, Common Sense. We will read and interpret the
Declaration of Independence, and analyze the cause of Americans taking sides.
We will continue reading King George III What was His Problem, and will begin
watching Liberty on P.B.S. Also keep your eye on the blog for sites.
Science: We will
continue to learn about the physical and behavior adaptations of animals. We will learn about environmental conditions
that can lead to endangered species due to not being about to adapt, or due to destruction
and pollution of their habitat. You will do a miniature research project on
extinct or endangered species. It will be due on February 17th. Our final Ecology test will be the 18th.
