We will not have a
spelling test this week due to all the activities for Catholic School’s Week.
A packet was sent home with the week’s activities and dress down days.
Students are in a completion to bring the most
soup cans. I have promised the kids a movie and popcorn afternoon if
they win. They will also get a dress down day the week after Catholic School’s Week
as part of the reward! You all did such
an amazing job feeding the hungry just before Thanksgiving. I really hope we can fill up the food bank’s shelves.
Reading: You will begin new literature groups. Your group will decide what will be read, and
what homework you will do. At times I will choose. Be ready to discuss what you
have read. You will be expected to have
character, plot, setting, theme, or conflict questions for your group each
day. The purpose is to read for meaning,
to really think about what you are reading, and to get others to think about
what you have discovered as a reader.
It is also fun.
Math: We will
cover ch. 8 lessons 7-12. Depending on how Catholic School’s Week goes, we may
have a test on Friday. We will just have to play it by ear.
Science: We will
begin learning about heredity, and adaptations. We will do a mini-report on an
animal of your choice in class.
S.S We will
continue to learn about the causes of the war, and will start the battles as
well. Be sure to check my blog for sites related to what we are learning.
